ARTIST STATEMENT
Being an avid color enthusiast, Prism Play instantly sounded fascinating. The challenge of making a monochromatic work was also intriguing, having done so only once. Upon learning that my assigned color was violet, I started to panic when I realized there was little in my very abundant stash. Luckily, the challenge quickly became an exciting experiment when I was struck with the idea of trying to capture amethyst geodes in Violet. With fabric in hand and the addition of dyes, paints, markers, and every tone of violet thread I could find, I set out to accomplish my goal of celebrating the amethyst geode.
