All the Glaciers Are Melting

ARTIST STATEMENT
Studying the card for this color, I saw all the fantastic colors of ice, glacial pools, and ice melt as it flows to the sea. As I was brainstorming and planning this quilt, the news was full of stories about ice sheets melting in Greenland and Antarctica, which has serious implications for global sea levels. The long, thin format for this project reminded me of the orbital satellite images I studied as a geophysicist and planetary scientist. This quilt can be seen as a sort of abstract, imaginary satellite view of melting ice mixing into the ocean.
