Cyanotype Printing Workshop: Where Science Meets Play and Art Meets Precision, with Annalise Neil

Local cyanotype artist Annalise Neil will guide participants in this exciting introductory workshop. Cyanotype is the process of treating a surface, usually paper or fabric, with light-sensitive chemicals to make an image, often using natural sunlight. Students will be introduced to the history of cyanotype, the process of creating light-sensitivity on a medium, different printing methods using objects and tea toning, and building compositions to be printed using sunlight. Annalise will also provide resources to continue your cyanotype journey beyond the workshop!

Time: 11 am-12:30 pm OR 1 pm-2:30 pm. (NOTE: There are two sign-ups offered, Session 1 from 11 am-12:30 pm and Session 2 from 1 pm-2:30 pm. Please sign up for only one. Each time slot accommodates 10 participants.)

Materials: All materials are provided for participants, though you are encouraged to bring objects to print with that cast interesting shadows such as nature specimens, lace, cut paper, and photo negatives. The instructor will provide chemistry-treated paper and fabrics, printing options including objects and tea toning materials, resources for furthering your practice after the workshop, and more.  

Participants can choose Session 1: 11 am-12:30 pm OR Session 2: 1 pm-2:30 pm. Each session will be limited to 10 participants. Please use our contact page to be put on a waiting list.
