ARTIST STATEMENT

“Art is the concrete representation of our most subtle feelings.” – Agnes Martin

I wish I could simply produce things of beauty. Unfortunately, that is not the way I work. While “beauty” is certainly an added benefit, it is not my primary goal. I work to express my innermost thoughts, my fears, my anxious moments…and recently, a new emotion entered my vocabulary—“joy.” A trip to Iceland in the summer of 2022 was a life-changing event. The incredible landscapes and the vernacular architecture, captivated me. For the first time I felt the emotions of happiness and wonder creeping into my work.
