ARTIST STATEMENT

Starting with a block of half square triangles, this amalgamation of shapes, patterns and lines is about tradition and transformation, memory and metamorphosis, reverence and revolution. The composition evolved on the design wall as I improvised various arrangements of shapes, patterns and stitches.

MATERIALS

Hand-dyed and commercial cotton, cotton/polyester batting, cotton/polyester thread

Freehand cut shapes, raw edge machine appliqué, layered with batting and backing, machine quilting
