ARTIST STATEMENT

These small compositions are about connection and interaction. Color sets the mood, shapes build a foundation and dance across the surface, patterns collect in lively associations and lines reach out to make connections. I aspire to create compelling compositions by manipulating these visual elements and design principles.

MATERIALS

Hand-dyed and commercial cotton, cotton/polyester batting, thread, wood cradled board, maple floating frame

Freehand cut shapes, raw edge machine appliqué, hand stitched appliqué, hand embroidery, layered with batting and backing, machine quilting
