ARTIST STATEMENT

Starting with a log cabin block, this amalgamation of shapes, patterns and lines is about tradition and transformation, memory and metamorphosis, reverence and revolution. The composition evolved on the design wall as I improvised various arrangements of shapes, adding patterns and linear details to give the piece a playful feeling.

MATERIALS

Hand-dyed and commercial cotton, cotton/polyester batting, cotton/polyester thread

Freehand cut shapes, raw edge machine appliqué, layered with batting and backing, machine quilting
