ARTIST STATEMENT

Upon first coming across this strange and wonderful conglomeration of sculptural elements, I was awed by the symmetry in the combination of natural and man-made elements. I started taking close up photos of the cars beautifully colored hood. I began cropping various areas of the car in my camera lens. Ultimately I realized that the whole was definitely greater than the parts in this instance. I was doing the composition a grave injustice by getting too close and cropping.

In this instance the sculpture that nature had created is far more interesting than anything that could have come from my imagination.

Parchment paper, light fusible web, organza, metallic acrylic paint, markers, paint pens, water-soluble ink block, wool batting, cotton backing
