ARTIST STATEMENT

I’ve seen many beautiful collage quilts made by other quilters and wanted to try my hand at something a little different. All of us quilters have scraps that seem to grow exponentially overnight. Many of the fabrics I used were brought from Africa by friends who traveled there and brought back pieces to share. So many of the fabrics are precious and cannot be replaced. Every piece, even the smallest has purpose. I ran an experiment. What if I cut my scraps, lay them out randomly and then quilted them myself?! I was pleasantly surprised by the outcome.
